The ECHR judgment of 08 October 2019 in the case of Margulev v. Russia (application No. 15449/09).
In 2009, the applicant was assisted in preparing the application. Subsequently, the application was communicated to the Russian Federation.
The case has successfully examined the application about the institution of defamation proceedings against the applicant, which violated his right to freedom of expression. The case has violated the requirements of Article 10 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
In his application, the applicant complained that the institution of defamation proceedings against him violated his right to freedom of expression.
On October 8, 2019, in an application lodged by the applicant, the Court unanimously ruled that in the present case the Government violated the requirements of Article 10 of the Convention (the right to freedom of expression) and ordered the respondent Government to pay the applicant EUR 3,000 in compensation moral harm.
