The case was successfully considered by the complainant that he had been ill-treated at the police station, that the subsequent investigation was not prompt and thorough, and that the amount of compensation awarded to him by the domestic courts was insufficient. The case has violated the requirements of Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (prohibition of torture) in its procedural and material aspects.
In 2013, the complainant was assisted in preparing a application. Subsequently, the application was communicated to the Russian Federation.

On 26 June 2018, the European Court unanimously ruled that in the present case the authorities violated the requirement of Article 3 of the Convention (prohibition of torture) in its procedural and material aspects, and ordered the respondent state to pay the applicant 25,000 euros in compensation.
