The case successfully examined the complaint of the applicant, a citizen of the United States of America, that the cancellation of her residence permit on the basis of information not disclosed to her violated her right to respect for family life and that the national courts could not properly consider this issue. The case has violated the requirements of Article 8 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (the right to respect for private and family life).
In 2015, the complainant was assisted in the preparation of the application. Subsequently, the application was communicated to the Russian Federation.
In her complaint, the complainant, who is a citizen of the United States of America, complained that the cancellation of her residence permit on the basis of undisclosed information violated her right to respect for family life and that the national courts could not properly consider this issue.
On 12 June 2018, the European Court unanimously ruled that in the present case the authorities violated the requirement of Article 8 of the Convention (the right to respect for private and family life), and ordered the respondent state to pay the applicant 12,500 euros as a fair compensation.
