The case was successfully considered the complaints of the applicants that they were not provided the opportunity to personally participate in the proceedings in civil proceedings. The case has violated the requirements of Article 6 § 1 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (the right to a fair trial).
In 2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2016, claimants were assisted in preparing applications. Subsequently, the applications were merged and communicated to the Russian Federation.
In their complaints, the applicants (six people) complained that they had not been provided with the opportunity to personally participate in the proceedings in civil proceedings.
On 12 April 2018, the European Court unanimously ruled that in the present case the authorities violated the requirement of Article 6 § 1 of the Convention (the right to a fair trial) and ordered the respondent state to pay 9,450 euros in compensation to the applicants. Applicants were awarded various amounts from 1,500 to 1,950 euros.
