The case has successfully examined the applicant's complaint that bringing her to justice in a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity for publishing a critical article in the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" violated her rights. The case has violated the requirements of Article 10 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (freedom of expression).
In 2011, the applicant was assisted in the preparation of the application. Subsequently, the application was communicated to the Russian Federation.
In her complaint, the applicant complained that bringing her to justice in a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity for publishing a critical article in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta violated her rights.
On 17 April 2018, on the complaint filed by the applicant, the European Court unanimously decided that in the present case the authorities violated the requirements of Article 10 of the Convention (freedom of expression). The applicant did not submit claims for just satisfaction, therefore the Court did not award anything in this connection.
